What’s Under My Porch Right Now?

Right now, rodents are out and about in numbers in Rochester and the surrounding areas. The areas we serve are the Rochester metro and neighborhoods like Fairport, Pittsford, Honeoye Falls, and Webster. Give us a call to see if we service your neighborhood with pest control and maintenance for rodents.

Your porch and deck are prime real estate for a variety of creatures. These include:

− Raccoons

− Woodchucks/groundhogs

− Skunks

− Mice

− Rats

The habits of rodents like these make them not only a nuisance, but a danger to humans, pets, livestock, and our properties. Dozens of our customers call us when they find burrows on their property, or entrance holes dug to access the space under porches and decks. The burrows can be up to 5’ deep and yards long, up to around 60’.

These animals that might be hiding under your porch can ruin your lawn by:

− Digging up loads of soil

− Eating your garden, from seeds to buds to fruits to vegetables

− Eating your garbage and scatter their leavings

− Damaging tree roots, which can injure the tree and weaken its hold on the soil

− Making holes that you can step in and get hurt

− Defecating wherever they please

− Kills animals that are welcome on the property, like fish in a pond or stream

According to New York law, it is illegal to move a wild animal from your property, so never ever attempt to remove these animals yourself. They might bite, and these rodents are known to carry disease and parasites. We don’t recommend trapping them yourself as that too is dangerous and can be inhumane. Never handle them, and never feed them. Discourage pets and children from interacting with them until we can get to your house to correct the problem and prevent another invasion. During our 37-point inspection according to integrative pest maintenance, we’ll be able to see what we can do or if you need a wildlife removal expert. We pay close attention to regulations on nuisance and damaging animals. Take a look at our residential program. Contact us on our website or call (585) 486-4815.
